Subject Matters Ltd - Who are we?

The company is owned and managed by Nicky Cornish and Emma Hilditch who between them have over 20 years in event development and management. Most recently Nicky was Managing Director of tbc research publishers of Computers & Finance magazine and organisers of the Chartech Forums. Prior to that Nicky has worked in publishing and event development for CMP, Softworld and EMAP. Nicky has successfully delivered Breakfast Briefings for Acta, Actuate, Cedar Group, Clarus and Peoplesoft.

Emma's background is in conference development and programming. She was responsible for the establishment of the conference division of Softworld and prior to that worked for the two largest conference companies in the world: IIR and IBC. Emma has worked with leading keynote speakers from Accenture, AMR, Cranfield University, Gartner, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers as well senior users from Barclays Bank, BBC, BT, BUPA, Cabinet Office, GlaxoSmithkline, Prudential, Royal Bank of Scotland, Standard Life, Scottish Power, Texaco, Yorkshire Water and many others including Princess Anne!

We are also supported by Alan Harpham as our non-executive director. Alan describes himself as being on his 4th career, as what Charles Handy calls ‘a portfolio manager’. He is an independent management consultant; focused on programme management, project management and executive coaching. He is the part-time Chairman of the APM Group, a consultancy specialising in the accreditation of practitioners, trainers and consultants in Prince 2 and Managing Successful Programmes (a project and programme management process and approach respectively, both owned by the Office of Government Commerce). He is also co-owner and a founding director of P5 – the Power of Projects, a consultancy specialising in the application of project and programme management in owner/client organisations (see www.p5.co.uk ). He is a former Managing Director and senior consultant of Nichols Associates (now part of The Nichols Group), one of the UK’s leading consultancies in project and change management. Before this Alan was an early Director of Cranfield University’s MSc in Project Management and started his own project management consultancy.
