The WWP Prince2™ 4 + 1 Delivery Format
WWP offers a unique learning programme structure for the delivery of PRINCE2™ Practitioner programmes, a 4 day + 1 day split delivery format, to ensure the right balance is achieved between gaining a proper understanding of the principles of PRINCE2™ and to enhance to the maximum possible level the chances of passing the PRINCE2™ Practitioner examination.
4 + 1 Explained
This structure follows the following model:
- Delegates start with a period of directed self-study starting approximately two weeks before the classroom event. This brings everyone up to a common standard of basic familiarity with the language and underlying principles of PRINCE2™ and ensures that the course gets off to a smooth start.
- The classroom training then begins with a four consecutive day event, with some evening homework on days one, two and three. This is adequate to cover the prescribed syllabus and to allow for a high degree of tutor-delegate interaction where issues of concern to individual delegates can be dealt with and tutor practical experiences shared. The Foundation exam is taken at the end of day 3 and the fourth day in the classroom is devoted to planning and practising for the Practitioner exam.
- There is a one week break before the fifth day of the classroom event, which would take place normally on the Friday of the following week. Final home self-study and revision is aided by the supply of specific study materials during the intervening week, which gives delegates time to work on and resolve any specific issues or areas of weakness that have been identified with their trainer during the preparation sessions on day four. The morning of the fifth day classroom event is used to make final preparations and clear up any last minute issues, and delegates then sit the Practitioner exam in the afternoon.
Why the WWP 4 + 1 Delivery Format is Best
Most delegates have two possible conflicting needs as their key desired outcomes from the PRINCE2™ training experience. Firstly they want to have a positive and stress free learning experience about structured project management using the PRINCE2™ method and to gain a solid understanding of the methodology in order to be able to apply it in a practical workplace environment. Secondly they want to maximise their chances of passing the Practitioner exam first time and to have access to the necessary support if unfortunately they do not, in order to ensure they pass as quickly as possible on a re-sit.
WWP’s 4 + 1 delivery structure perfectly balances these two needs, in comparison to a five day consecutive classroom event where there is the possibility of conflict as delegates can become so stressed and “obsessed” with passing the exam that their learning method becomes un-conducive with gaining a true practical appreciation of the subject matter.
Key benefits of the 4 + 1 method are:
- A greatly increased chance of passing the Practitioner exam first time – with WWP you have a better chance of passing your exam than with a conventional consecutive five day programme. Using the 4 + 1 modular course structure WWP are able to boast an average first time pass rate of 84% for the Practitioner exam when delivered in this way as compared to the national average of just 66%! This increase from a 66% to a 84% chance of passing the exam is a direct result of the delivery method in its allowance of self-study over the extra week available before the Practitioner exam.
- Avoidance of the intense pressure delegates are placed under when trying to absorb the learning and sit the exam within a closed five-day consecutive period, thereby enabling them to properly understand the methodology without the immediate pressure of an exam looming. This enhanced ability to truly understand the methodology means delegates are able to add real value to their organisation in its subsequent application in the work place.
- Delegate feedback when comparing delivery methods is that the five-day consecutive model is very often a highly stressful, unpleasant, ineffective and inappropriate nightmare, as compared to the enjoyable, realistically paced and conducive to positive learning experience of the 4 + 1 model. Delegates who experience the difference always prefer 4 + 1 without fail.
- WWP are acutely aware that for most delegates it has probably been a long time since they took a written examination! With 4 + 1, the fifth day when they actually sit the exam is a much more relaxed affair.
- 4 + 1 enables WWP to offer all delegates the additional security of our Performance Guarantee, so confident does it make us that you will pass first time. (For full details of criteria and scope please see the separate “Performance Guarantee” document).
- This pattern suits people who still have to meet their intensive work demands by not thus having to take the whole five days out in one week.
WWP’s 4 + 1 model was developed totally with the attendee’s welfare in mind
- It is 100% delegate rather than provider driven. How refreshing!
